Daily Writing #53: Nobody knows what to do

People roaming around you that seem to have it all figured out are lying.

They are just as clueless as you are.

They are better at hiding it and pretending than you.

Nobody knows what to do in their lives.

You see for every opinion, there exists an equally convincing counter opinion.

There exist a million and one ways to live your life, do what you want to do. Except for some universal truths, nothing is set in stone.

Every advice, opinion out there should be taken with a grain of salt.

Not everything applies to everyone equally because everyone lives a different life. Everyone’s living condition is different. Everyone was raised differently. The environment in which we were raised plays a huge part in what we consider as right or wrong or normal.

Beliefs that we are faced with regularly from our childhood become ingrained in our minds. We start considering them as the only reality. Anything against that reality is treated as a negative.

All self-help gurus out there advising people on the best strategies, tips, and tricks are giving out their subjective opinion only. They don’t know you personally. Hence, they can’t advise you on exactly what you should do.

Even I am writing from my own experience. Things that work for me will not work for you. In fact, they will not work for you.

One surefire way to test is to actually follow all that advice out there, and see if it fits your life. If it doesn’t, abandon it, and look for alternatives.

No, you don’t need to work 80 hours per week like Elon.

No, you don’t need to wake up at 5 AM to become a part of the 5 AM club.

No, you don’t need to do anything out of compulsion.

There is nothing that you should do. You need to do it only if it agrees with you.

Waking up at 5 AM will not magically make you successful if you are walking like a zombie the whole day. Waking up at 8-9 AM is equally good if that is how your body functions well.

Working 80 hours per week is not an ideal that you should aim for if you want a life of any sort outside of your work. Sure If you are early in your career or believe that you lag behind then you can go hard, but other than that work like normal people, and have a life outside of work. Nobody says on their grave that they wished they could have worked harder.

There is no objective advice in this world.

Listen to every bit of advice but apply in your life carefully.

I write daily here on my blog. There is no limit to the word count. I am not focusing on any topic here. I want to build a daily writing habit. This is Day 53 of the Daily Writing Challenge in 2022.
