Want to become the best at what you do, you need to read this.
Have you ever thought about how you can become number one in your field of work or any area of life?
I am sure you must have. Did you figure out a way to do it? Let me tell you about away then.
This theory is known as skill stacking and I read about this here. It definitely impacted me and I will be applying this in my life to achieve my goals.
According to this theory, it’s easier and more effective to be among the top 10% in a different set of skills than it is to be in the top 1% at any one skill.
If you think then that is true that it would be difficult to be in the top 1% of only one skill. As you move up the ladder you encounter people who are stronger than you and more talented also. That’s not to say that you cannot rise to the top 1% of that skill but it would take a great amount of time to rise from top 10% to top 1% in that skill.
However, If you combine different skillsets and rise to the top 10% in those you would possess a unique stack of skills in the world. For example, consider Steve Jobs. He had a unique skill stack comprising of skills like design, psychology, business, etc.
Keep in mind that the different skill sets you chose should have a low covariance, meaning they should not overlap too much. For example, if you study history along with politics then they overlap quite a bit in the sense that people who study history are likely to study politics too. But if on the other hand, you study history with AI or Biology then that can give you a unique stack.
Master one skill first
Even if you are looking to adopt this method of skill stacking you need to build your skill one by one. I think building them together at once would put undue pressure on us.
I write daily here on my blog. There is no limit to the word count. I am not focusing on any topic here. I want to build a daily writing habit. This is Day 10 of the Daily Writing Challenge in 2022.
