Daily Writing #15: The fastest way to have less money

Do you remember the movie FIght Club?

Of Course, you do. It was a legendary piece of cinema.

Now the fastest way to have less money is explained nicely in that movie in a quote by the titular character to Tyler Durden.

I am not going to post that quote here because that has been immortalized now.

However, the reason I am going to give you is from a book called The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. Here it goes:

“Spending money to show people how much money you have is the fastest way to have less money.”

The Psychology of Money

Do you agree with this?

I do.

We all are under societal pressure to show the people that we don’t even like that we are rich and can afford items sometimes way beyond our means.

This leads to depression, anxiety, and despair. We are always comparing ourselves to the people and spend money to show them that we are better than them.

This endless game of comparison and trying to impress other people never allow us to be happy and content with what we have.

Spend only what you have and only when you want to. Not to show other people that you have a huge amount of money.

You will feel better when you do not try to impress other people with unnecessary spending.

You will feel free.

I write daily here on my blog. There is no limit to the word count. I am not focusing on any topic here. I want to build a daily writing habit. This is Day 15 of the Daily Writing Challenge in 2022.
