Life is hard. It will throw you on the ground again and again until you are tired and then some more.
What do we need to face life head-on?
Mental Toughness.
Do we have it?

No.
Why we don’t have it?
Probably because we are lazy, complacent, and want to stay in our comfort zones forever. But I don’t know the real reason though.
One thing we do know is that we can all use some more mental toughness to make our life easier.
I am going to give you a simple trick to do that.
No, it’s not self-discipline. That must be the first thing that came to your mind, isn’t it?
But no that’s not it.
Here is the secret to 100x your mental toughness:
Do things that you are genuinely interested in.
It’s that simple.
No complex formulas. No lectures about discipline.
See, the simplicity of this idea is beautiful. We don’t need spreadsheets to figure out the game of mental toughness. It’s will simply flow if you do the things that you are genuinely interested in.
For example, Do you need any mental toughness to eat a burger? Or any external motivation to watch a Netflix movie or an episode of Game of Thrones.? No.
Why is that?
That’s because you have genuinely curious about what’s going to happen in the next episode. You are so engrossed in the story that you can’t stop yourself from watching it.
Why can’t we do the same for our goals and careers?
We can. We should.
Consider that you are interested in coding. Coding is just a placeholder here, you can fill anything in its place.
If your interest is authentic you will be ready to face any hurdle, or problem that may arise in your path to mastery in coding. To you, the incline would be a joy. Whereas someone who doesn’t enjoy doing programming would be huffing and puffing while climbing up.
In the former case would you need any mental toughness? No. Because to you, that thing would be easy. Your mental toughness level for that thing will be 100x. You will get flustered somewhere down the road but your tolerance level would be really high. That all will be due to your pure curiosity towards that subject.
Identify things that excite you
If we pursue fields, goals towards which we exhibit such unfabricated curiosity we will never even need mental toughness in the first place.
We only need mental toughness for the things which we hate doing in the first place. For example, for some, that thing could be going to the gym. Eventually, they are going to give up someday and totally quit on their personal health.
The trick here is to identify things that excite you. Maybe the gym is not for you. Maybe your thing is running, going for a walk, or calisthenics, etc.
If you are always seeking mental toughness it may be time to rethink your goals. You might be leaning onto the wrong wall.
Inversely if you want to 100x your mental toughness then pursue things that genuinely interest you and you will see you already possess tons of it.
