Daily Writing #12: Your number one enemy to progress

Everyone wants to achieve their goals but there’s something holding us back.

What is it in your opinion?

Is it the world? No.

Is it the circumstances? No.

Is it God? Oh No.

Then What is it?

I believe it’s a Who rather than a What?

And it’s Us.

We are the biggest enemies of our own progress. Not this world. Not the circumstances we are in, or anyone else.

It’s us who hinder our march towards our goals.

We always want to slip into our old destructive habits easily because we feel comfortable there. Our former self is a cozy place where we want to live forever.

It takes a lot of energy to constantly push ourselves towards our goals.

What helps? Discipline, consistency, perseverance.

Discipline helps us to persevere which helps to build consistency.

For example, I am not in the mood to write every day. But I sit down at a set time and just write. I don’t give myself any other choice. That’s how we develop self-discipline and consistency. We do things that we have to even if we do not feel like it.

You do this every day and slowly you will build a streak. And that builds momentum which gives us the biggest sense of satisfaction as we look back.

That sense of satisfaction and self-esteem then gives us the energy to propel us further into our desired future.

That is how you defeat your number one enemy i.e. yourself and win for your future self.

I write daily here on my blog. There is no limit to the word count. I am not focusing on any topic here. I want to build a daily writing habit. This is Day 12 of the Daily Writing Challenge in 2022.
